Gordon Riley

    - Summer Mountain Leader

    - DofE Assessor for Bronze & Silver

    - Qualified Social Worker

Gordon has been involved in hillwalking and mountaineering for over 20 years, initially combining a love for athletics with long distance running in the hills before climbing took over a few years later. Gordon is currently an active member of the Castle Mountaineering Club in Sheffield and most of his free time is taken up with activities in the hills with the club. Highlights have included trips to the French and Austrian Alps and many trips to most of the mountainous regions of the UK.

Gordon became an instructor in the outdoors through the realisation that many of the young people that he worked with as a Social Worker could benefit from the personal development experiences offered by outdoor education. In addition to passing on the skills that he has built up over a long outdoor career, Gordon particularly enjoys seeing participants develop their skills, confidence and ability to trust and work with others.

When not spending time in the outdoors, Gordon enjoys spending time with his family, reading and folk music.
