                   - D of E Accredited Assessor for Bronze, Silver and Gold

                   - Member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors

Max works at the top of his profession holding the Mountaineering Instructors Certificate, having worked up through the qualifications from gaining his Summer Mountain Leader many years ago.  He taught biology till he turned 29 when he "discovered" climbing and has never looked back since then.  He has 18 years of experience in Outdoor Education and has been working on DofE expeditions all over the country for 6 years.  Alison and Max will not only be found working together, but also climb together in their time off.  Max has led expeditions to Greenland, Peru and Acogcagua but is as excited about Scottish Winter as his trips abroad!  Max is also a DofE accreditated assessor.  His groups are always inspired by his enthusiam.

"Thank you so much to Max for his supervision, help, care, patience and encouragement on the recent Gold Dof E Expedition. My daughter had a fantastic week."  Diane Morgan, Brecon Beacons September 2011

A few questions for Max...

Favourite location for DofE Expeditions?

Bronze - Somewhere with not too many choices between left and right!

Silver - Rhynogs in North Wales, a great combination of mountain and sea scenery.

Gold - The Alps, the views are so dramatic you have to see it to believe it!

What is the best thing about being on expedition?

My rubbish cooking tastes good!

What is the worst thing about being on expedition?

Is there anything!?

What would we find in your rucksack that we really shouldn't?

A pillow! (I might have been known to take a duvet once ....sshh..!)
