Last week saw our last Open Gold expedition for the 2012 season in the Peak District. As the season drew to a close, so have the nights and timings and daylight hours took a central role in planning - along with copious amounts of tea and chocolate cookies!
The two expedition teams came together on Monday afternoon with instructors Tony and Mark leading the programme. Further training, pre-expedition checks, food purchasing, socialising and route planning were our focus for the first two days before a meal out on Tuesday evening and an early night ready to tackle the expedition from Wednesday to Saturday.
The weather was a real mix during the week and thoroughly tested the teams: misty weather to take on the challenge of navigating the Kinder Plateau, bogs to negotiate and smiles when it got damp. Well done guys!
